Sarah + John // The Barn at Serra Valley Farms // Maryland Wedding Photographer

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of an old friend. I met Sarah over 15 years ago (holy moly, I had no clue it was actually that long ago when I started typing this). Sarah and I were counterparts while working for DEWALT + Black & Decker. Prior to my life as a stay at home mom and photographer, I worked in brand marketing. Sarah was actually the driving force behind my shift into brand. I vividly remember the first conversation we had about the brand marketing team at Black & Decker and just a few years later we ended up working on the same team.

Sarah left Black & Decker a few years later and moved to Atlanta, and sadly we lost touch. Aside from Facebook we hadn't talked much since she moved back to the area, but when she called me this spring and asked if I would photograph her wedding, I was so excited. When we met for lunch to review everything for her big day, it was like no time had passed and we jumped back in right where we left off.

To say everything about Sarah + John's day was perfect is an understatement. Sarah + John got married at a quaint location in Mt. Airy. The rain from the morning cleared by mid-day, making way for a beautiful, crisp fall day. Every last detail was amazingly sweet, right down to Sarah's sentimental gift for John.

Sarah told me that the most important part of the day was the joining of their families, and their kids were just as important to the day as the union of her and John. This was so incredibly evident in their ceremony. John and Sarah both wrote vows, John to Isabelle and Sarah to Connor. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. The love that this family has for each other is undeniable. I am so grateful Sarah thought to reach out to me and I'm even more grateful that John + Sarah allowed me to capture this big day. It was an honor to capture every smile, every laugh (and there were many thanks to John and Connor - they're quite the comedic duo), and every tear.
