While the Class of 2022 is preparing to graduate, I've already gotten to work on next year's DOP REP team! This past weekend, our team had it's very first meet-up at Love Evolution Studio in Bel Air, MD.
Every year, the first meet-up is one of my very favorite events of the year. It wasn't long ago that I welcomed the very first class of DOP Senior Reps - a tiny team of just 6 girls from 4 schools - into my home for a small meet and greet and headshot shoot. In the year's following that first meet up, I've watched this team grown beyond my wildest dreams. This year, I welcomed 21 seniors to the team from over 11 schools spanning, Harford, Baltimore and Carroll Counties!
If you follow along on my Insta stories, you may be thinking, "... but Des, didn't you say you wanted a smaller team this year?" Yes, I did, and in some ways I think that a smaller team would be easier to manage, but this year I had over 40 kids apply for the team. I narrowed the interview list down to close to 20 and I added a new component to the interview process. Each senior had to submit a mock takeover video, pretending they were taking over my Insta stories for the day. I was BLOWN AWAY by some of the videos submitted. Each senior's video was unique and different, and it occurred to me... I didn't start this team to create a group that's exclusive. My ultimate goal in my business is to create an environment designed to help seniors feel confident and beautiful, to standout in a crowd, to be different and proud of it. So, why would I "cut" more kids from this group? This DOP Class of 23 is in for a fun ride this year and I can't wait! We have our first group shoot in less than two weeks and it's a fun one! Any guesses to what our theme is?? Hint hint - 80's lovers this one's for you!
