Hey DOP fam! My name is Jenna Zavoyna. I am a DOP senior rep alumni (2020 represent!) and the new content creator for Des!
I met Des in 2018 while assistant teaching a dance class at Rage Box Dance Center that her daughter Scarlett was in. Despite only being a year into her photography business, everyone at the studio knew and loved Des. So when I was asked to be a part of her very first senior rep team, my immediate answer was “YES!”.
From our styled shoot at B’more Licks to our Extreme Family Outreach Fundraiser shoot, my year as a senior rep for Des was everything I could’ve ever dreamed of (+ more!).
For Mother's Day that spring, my dad and I surprised my mom with a family shoot at Longwood Gardens. And in the summer, I had Des take my pageant headshots.
Since I had been lucky enough to shoot with Des so often, I wanted my senior pictures to be different. The goal of my senior session was to capture my personality, “sugar and spice!”. I decided on an in-studio session with a hot pink backdrop because, I wanted to capture a magazine-look! So often seniors shy away from an in-studio shoot because, they think it will be "boring" or "all look the same"... but I would argue the contrary! Since there aren't elaborate backgrounds and distractions, your senior session can be focused on you. Your personality can truly shine through in an in-studio session. AND you don't have to worry about posing, Des will guide you through the entire thing.
Rachael and Meaghan from Fleurt Beauty killed my hair and makeup, with bouncy curls and a glowy (is that even a word?) makeup look!
For my first outfit, I wore a blush sweater and light blue jeans, for my “sweet” look. Des made a floral backdrop out of a variety of pink flowers and used washi tape to tack them up. After we shot what felt like a million perfect photos with the floral backdrop, I got changed into my “spice” look.
I wore a leopard print, off the shoulder top with black jeans, and black velvet Nike Air Force One's. The second half of the session we focused on taking pictures that matched my “spicy” personality, giving all the #girlboss vibes!
We wrapped shooting after about two hours and I have to say, my mouth hurt from laughing so much. That night Des sent me the “sneak peak” photos and I was so excited. They were everything I could’ve ever hoped for! I received the rest of my gallery shortly after, with over 180 photos (no two the same!).
My session was personalized to fit what I wanted to see in my senior pictures. Des makes you so comfortable in front of the camera and leaves you feeling like a supermodel! Shooting with Des is an experience you will truly never forget, leaving you with photos that will last a lifetime!
